Rest Day |
This week, Jeremiah pushed you to look beneath the surface. Again and again, God addressed the heart before the circumstances. He spoke about roots instead of branches, shepherds instead of crowds, truth instead of comfort, and transformation instead of appearance. The message was consistent: God is after something deeper than outward obedience. He desires a heart that truly knows Him.
Grace showed up in God’s persistence. Even after years of rejection, He continued sending prophets, calling His people to return, and pointing them toward a future Shepherd who would gather what had been scattered. His warnings were never evidence that He had given up. They were evidence that He had not.
You also saw how Jesus fulfills every promise Jeremiah hinted at. He is the righteous Branch, the Good Shepherd, the truthful Prophet, and the One who gives us a new heart. He does not simply tell us how to live…He changes us from the inside out so that we can.
Take time today to reflect, not just on what you’ve learned, but on who you are becoming. Scripture is meant to shape more than your understanding. It is meant to shape your heart.
Reflection Questions:
As you think back over this week’s readings, what truth challenged you the most? Why do you think that is?
Where have you seen God working beneath the surface of your life, even if your circumstances have not changed?
