Scriptures: 2 Kings 22–23, 2 Chronicles 34–35 |

These chapters tell the story of one of Judah’s greatest revivals. King Josiah begins seeking the Lord while he is still young, but the turning point comes when the Book of the Law is discovered during repairs to the temple. As God’s Word is read aloud, Josiah realizes just how far the nation has drifted. Instead of ignoring it or making excuses, he tears his clothes in grief and humbles himself before God. Grace shows up in awareness. God’s Word has a way of exposing where we have wandered, to call us home.

So Josiah does not keep the truth to himself. He gathers the people, reads God’s Word publicly, renews the covenant, removes idols, and restores the celebration of the Passover. Real revival is not merely emotional…it produces lasting change. When hearts are transformed by God’s truth, lives begin to reflect it.

Even so, these chapters carry a note of sadness. Although Josiah is faithful, the generations before him have left deep scars on the nation. His obedience cannot erase every consequence of Judah’s long rebellion. But his faithfulness still matters. Grace is found in influence. We are not responsible for changing the past, but we are responsible for responding to God in the present.

Challenge Question:

Write down one area where God’s Word has recently challenged or convicted you. Then identify one practical step you can take this week to respond in obedience. Ask Jesus not only to help you understand His truth, but to let that truth produce real transformation in your life.
