Scriptures: Amos 6-9 |

These final chapters of Amos continue with strong warnings, visions of judgment, and reminders that God sees far more than outward appearances. The people felt secure, comfortable, and convinced that everything was fine, even though their hearts had drifted far from Him. Grace shows up in awakening! God refuses to let His people sleepwalk toward destruction without first confronting the reality of their condition.

What stands out is that God’s judgment is never arbitrary. Again and again, the issue is not merely broken rules, but broken relationship. Pride, injustice, self-indulgence, and false security had replaced dependence on God. The people trusted their prosperity more than His presence. God lovingly tears down false foundations before they collapse on their own.

That being said, the Book of Amos does not end with destruction. The final verses shift unexpectedly toward hope. God promises restoration, rebuilding, and renewal. What has been torn down will one day be raised up again. What seems lost will not remain lost forever. Even after judgment, God’s heart is still moving toward restoration and healing.

Jesus ultimately becomes the fulfillment of God’s promise to restore what sin has damaged. Where Amos ends with the hope of rebuilding, Jesus makes that rebuilding possible.

Challenge Question:
Write down one area of your life where you may be placing your security in comfort, success, routine, or something other than God. Then list three ways Jesus has been faithful to you in the past. Let that be a reminder to place your trust more fully in Him rather than in temporary sources of security.
