Scriptures: Proverbs 5–8 |
Two voices emerge…one that leads toward life, and one that pulls toward destruction. Proverbs 5–7 repeatedly warn against paths that look appealing in the moment but carry long-term consequences. Grace shows up in God’s
protection. God is not trying to withhold joy…He is guarding us from what will ultimately harm us.
Think about how intentional wisdom must be. “Stay far from her…do not go near the door of her house.” The path of wisdom is not just about resisting in the moment, but about choosing distance from what leads us away from God. God
shows us not only what is right, but also how to walk it out.
Then Proverbs 8 lifts wisdom even higher. It is no longer just instruction…it is something woven into creation itself. Wisdom was present from the beginning, shaping order, beauty, and life. This is not random…Wisdom calls out to
everyone, offering life, favor, and understanding to those who will listen.
All of this points clearly to Jesus, who is wisdom in its fullest form…the one who not only teaches what is right, but embodies it perfectly. Where Proverbs highlights two voices, Jesus becomes the only voice we follow.
Challenge Question:
Write down one area where you’ve been tempted toward something that looks appealing but may lead you away from God, and one step you can take to create distance from it. Doing this always brings us to trusting His wisdom in a way that leads us into what is truly life-giving.
