Scriptures: Exodus 37–40 |

Exodus closes with faithful obedience…thankfully. The people build the tabernacle exactly as the Lord instructed: piece by piece and detail by detail. After failure, forgiveness, and renewal, Israel chooses faithfulness! Grace shows up in God’s willingness to dwell among a people who had recently betrayed Him.

When the work is finished, God’s glory fills the tabernacle! The presence of the Lord settles among His people in a visible, undeniable way. God takes up residence with them. This is the goal that has been unfolding since Exodus began…not just rescue from slavery, but a relationship gained with their Creator! Grace is not only that God saves His people, but that He chooses to live with them.

It’s fitting that this reading lands on Valentine’s Day. Today is often centered on expressions of love, commitment, and presence. Exodus 40 reminds us that God’s love is not conditional or symbolic. He does not simply say He loves His people…He shows it by being with them. Love, in God’s view, looks like closeness and patience. We love you too, Father!

This points us fully to Jesus. He is Emmanuel, God with us. Where God once filled a tent with His glory, He now fills human lives through Christ. Through the Holy Spirit, God does not merely visit…He remains. He stays!
