Scriptures: Proverbs 27–29 |

These chapters continue to sharpen wisdom through relationships, discipline, and character. Proverbs speaks honestly about friendship, correction, leadership, anger, pride, and self-control. “As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” Grace shows up in refinement. God often shapes us through people who challenge us, encourage us, and tell us the truth when we need to hear it.

There is also a repeated contrast between humility and stubbornness. A person who refuses correction eventually hardens, while a teachable person grows wiser over time. Wisdom is not about already knowing everything (thank goodness)…it is about remaining open to growth. Grace appears in teachability. God’s correction is never rejection…it is evidence that He cares enough to change us.

There is also a strong emphasis on leadership and influence. Whether leading a nation, a family, or simply your own choices, your character matters. Uncontrolled anger, pride, and dishonesty damage not only the individual, but everyone around them. Grace is found in both restraint and integrity. Wisdom protects relationships and builds stability over time.

How grateful are you to have Jesus…the faithful friend, the humble leader, and the one who receives correction without defensiveness and leads without corruption? Where Proverbs calls us toward wisdom in relationships and leadership, Jesus embodies it perfectly.

Challenge Question:

Write down one area where you’ve resisted correction, accountability, or honest feedback recently. Then identify one trusted person or one practical step that could help sharpen and strengthen your character, and then make a plan to have that talk this week with humility.
