Scriptures: 1 Kings 10–11, 2 Chronicles 9, Proverbs 30–31 |

Solomon’s wisdom, wealth, and influence reach incredible heights. Nations come to hear him speak, the Queen of Sheba is overwhelmed by what she sees, and the kingdom flourishes with peace and abundance. But by 1 Kings 11, the story begins to crack. Solomon’s heart slowly drifts as compromise takes root through divided devotion. Even great wisdom and success cannot protect a heart that stops remaining fully surrendered to God.

What stands out is how gradual the drift is. Did you notice it? Solomon does not abandon God in a single moment…it happens over time through small compromises and misplaced affections. Then Proverbs 30–31 shift the focus back toward humility, integrity, wisdom, and reverence for God in everyday life. The “virtuous woman” scripture is not merely about productivity…it paints a picture of strength, faithfulness, wisdom, and character that is deeply connected to the fear of the Lord. True wisdom is not measured by achievement alone, but by a heart found in God.

There is also a subtle reminder woven through all of this…finishing well matters. A strong beginning does not remove the need for ongoing dependence on God. Wisdom is not something we outgrow needing. Grace is found in perseverance. God continually calls His people back to wholehearted devotion before drifting becomes destruction.

Where Solomon’s wisdom eventually falters, Jesus remains perfectly faithful. Where earthly kingdoms rise and weaken, Christ’s kingdom endures forever. Grace reaches its fullness when our trust shifts away from human wisdom, success, or accomplishment and rests fully in Jesus, the perfectly wise and faithful King!
