Scriptures: 2 Kings 1–4 |

These chapters mark the transition from Elijah to Elisha and continue revealing God’s power and compassion through His prophets. Fire falls from heaven, a widow’s oil multiplies, a child is raised back to life, poison is removed from food, and bread is multiplied to feed many. God is not distant from human need…He steps into impossible situations with care, power, and compassion.

What stands out is how personal so many of these miracles are. God is not only working on national stages or through dramatic confrontations…He is helping widows survive, grieving mothers hope again, and ordinary people find daily provision. Grace appears in His attentiveness. The God who commands fire from heaven also notices unpaid debts, empty jars, hunger, and heartbreak.

There is also a growing sense of continuity in God’s work. Elijah is gone, but God’s power and presence continue through Elisha. The mission does not end with one person. God’s purposes move forward across generations, carrying His faithfulness into new seasons and new lives.

All of this points clearly to Jesus. He multiplies bread, raises the dead, restores the broken, and meets both physical and spiritual needs with compassion. Where Elisha reflects glimpses of God’s power and mercy, Jesus embodies them fully.

Challenge Question:

Write down one area of need, worry, or impossibility you are carrying right now, and one way you’ve already seen God provide or care for you in the past. Then choose one moment this week to bring that need honestly before Jesus and trust Him with both the ordinary and impossible parts of your life.
