Scriptures: Joshua 3–6 |

Joshua 3 begins with a familiar problem…movement requires trust. The Jordan River stands in the way, and it’s pretty intimidating, yet God tells the priests to step in before the waters part. The miracle comes after obedience, not before it. The path forward does not open through certainty, but through faith-filled steps taken while carrying His presence.

Joshua 4 pauses to mark the moment. Stones are taken from the riverbed and set up as a memorial. God wants the people to remember, and He wants future generations to ask why these stones matter. Grace is often preserved through remembrance and God knows that victories can fade quickly unless they are named and brought back to memory.

Joshua 5 and 6 push this trust even further. Before battle, God calls the people to consecration, reminding them who they belong to. Then Jericho falls through obedience that looks foolish by human standards. Marching, waiting, silence, and praise become the means of victory. God makes it clear…the land is not taken by power, but only through trust in God.

All of this points us clearly to Jesus who leads us through impossible moments, asks us to trust before we see outcomes, and brings victory in ways that overturn human expectations! Where the ark went before the people, Jesus goes before us now.

Challenge Question:

List one obstacle in front of you that feels overwhelming right now, and one “stone of remembrance” from your past where God proved faithful. Then take one step this week that reflects trust in Jesus rather than fear of the obstacle.
