Scriptures: Joshua 19–22 |

Joshua 19 continues the distribution of the land, tribe by tribe, promise by promise. What stands out to me is how ordinary this section feels. There are no walls falling or rivers parting, just a faithful follow-through. Grace shows up in completion. God finishes what He starts. What was promised long ago is now settled, lived in, and shared. Even Joshua receives his inheritance, a reminder that faithful service is never overlooked by God.

Joshua 20 and 21 highlight God’s care for justice and provision. Cities of refuge are established so mercy can exist alongside accountability, and the Levites are given towns throughout the land. God makes sure that protection, worship, and teaching stay woven into daily life. Grace is built into the structure of the community because God does not simply give land…He grows a society where life, fairness, and spiritual leadership are preserved.

Joshua 22 then shows us an altar built by the eastern tribes that sparks fear of rebellion. A conversation reveals their true intent…a desire to remember and remain faithful to the Lord. What could have become division is resolved through communication and shared reverence for God. Grace always shows up in unity! God protects His people not only from enemies, but from misunderstanding that could fracture relationships.

Jesus would later complete the work the Father gives Him. Where Israel needed reminders to stay faithful across distance, Jesus holds His people together across every boundary.

Challenge Question:

Make a short list of areas in your life where God has already been faithful but you may have stopped noticing…provision, protection, or unity restored. Then choose one way this week to intentionally thank Jesus or act in a way that protects unity and faithfulness where it matters most.
