Rest Day |

This week Jesus taught us what life in His Kingdom looks like, then demonstrated His authority over everything that threatens it. He taught about transformed hearts, welcomed people carrying questions and shame, confronted religious hypocrisy, calmed storms, broke spiritual oppression, healed disease, raised the dead, and provided for thousands. His words and His actions tell the same story: the Kingdom of God has come near because the King is here.

Grace is found in how Jesus continues meeting people exactly where they are while refusing to leave them there. He receives the doubtful, frightened, broken, hungry, and desperate, but always calls them toward deeper faith and discipleship. Jesus wants more for us than simply solving the crisis that brought us to Him. He wants us to know Him.

That becomes especially clear in John 6. Crowds wanted another miracle, but Jesus offered Himself. Some walked away when following became difficult, while Peter recognized that there was nowhere else worth going. That question still sits in front of every disciple: Do we want what Jesus can give us, or have we discovered that Jesus Himself is the treasure?

Reflection Questions:

Looking back over this week's readings, what have you learned about Jesus that makes you trust Him more deeply?

If Jesus stopped giving you the outcomes you wanted, what would remain at the center of your relationship with Him?
